Objectives for Pharmacists

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • ·         Create a “pharmacist checklist” to optimize care for inpatients with HIV
  • ·         Discuss the prevalence of medication errors in people with HIV (PWH)
  • ·         Recognize key drug adjustments and interactions to manage care for PWH
  • ·         Identify FDA-approved two-drug regimens and injectable antiretrovirals

Objectives for Pharmacy Technicians      

At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacy technicians should be able to:

  1. Identify key components of a pharmacy checklist used to support safe medication management for hospitalized patients with HIV.
  2. Describe common medication errors involving antiretroviral therapy in people with HIV.
  3. Recognize antiretroviral medications that may require dosage adjustments or screening for significant drug interactions.
  4. Identify FDA-approved two-drug HIV regimens and injectable antiretroviral therapies.

Accreditation:

Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider for continuing pharmacy education and has assigned 1 contact hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credits for participating in this activity.  Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 1 day after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days. Participants must participate in the activity and complete the course evaluation in its entirety to claim continuing pharmacy education credit.

This is a member service of VSHP.  There is no charge for members to attend.  Dues must be current to receive CE credit.
