Donate to the VSHP PAC: What is it? Why should I give? A Political Action Committee (PAC) is an independent organization that solicits contributions from individuals or entities who share common interests. PACs contribute funds to candidate campaigns as a demonstration of support for that candidate’s philosophy or viewpoints or position of influence. These political contributions help offset the expenses of campaigns which include things like staff and communications (website, mailings, yard signs). PAC contributions allows VSHP to establish relationships with key legislators through candidate events and advocate for their support on health-system related pharmacy issues.
| Serve as a Delegate to the ASHP House The House of Delegates is the ultimate authority over ASHP professional policies, which express the Society's stance on important issues related to health-system pharmacy practice and medication use in society. The House of Delegates meets annually at the ASHP Summer Meetings and virtually in March and November, where it reviews policy proposals that have been approved by the Board of Directors. Most professional policies are initially drafted by ASHP councils or the executive committees of sections and forums. Serving as a delegate provides the opportunity to preview the upcoming topics and issues of the profession and allow for your voice to be heard. Virginia is allotted four delegates to the ASHP House of Delegates. Delegates must be members of both ASHP and VSHP. Delegates are voted on by the ASHP members in Virginia and serve 3 year terms. | VSHP Legislative Committee The VSHP Legislative Committee is responsible for monitoring state and federal legislation and regulation, and for providing input from the membership of VSHP. The Committee organizes a legislative day at the Virginia Capital annually during session (typically late-January/early-February). Do you have a pharmacy practice that you think regulatory changes can enhance how you provide patient care? Reach out to the Legislative Committee to start the discussion!
