Objectives for Pharmacists:
• Explain the pathophysiology of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM).
• Employ appropriate therapeutic plans to prevent CKD progression in T2DM.
• Apply appropriate monitoring strategies for patients receiving finerenone therapy.
• Evaluate lifestyle modifications recommended by the KDIGO guidelines for preventing the progression of CKD.
• Recognize the trials that support the use of Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2 inhibitors) and Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonists (MRAs) in patients with T2DM and CKD.
Objectives for Pharmacy Technicians:
• Discuss the pathophysiology of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM).
• List appropriate therapeutic plans to prevent CKD progression in T2DM.
• Recite appropriate monitoring strategies for patients receiving finerenone therapy.
• Evaluate lifestyle modifications recommended by the KDIGO guidelines for preventing the progression of CKD.
