Presentation Objectives for Pharmacists:

1.      Describe the mechanism and precipitating factors of vaso-occlusive crisis 

2.      Review pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options for the management of acute and chronic pain in patients with sickle cell disease 

3.      Discuss appropriate discharge plans and pharmacotherapy options for the prevention of vaso-occlusive crises
