Title: Updates in Cardiology for Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacists

Pharmacist Learning Objectives:

- Participants will be able to determine which patients should receive low-dose aspirin for primary prevention using 2019 guideline recommendations

- Participants will be able to interpret a patient's LDL and HDL cholesterol values, including extreme values

- Participants will be able to list medications used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus that also have cardiovascular benefit

- Participants will be able to describe the recent data supporting the increased use of PCSK9 inhibitors

- Participants will be able to distinguish situations when it is appropriate to use a DOAC versus situations more appropriate to use warfarin for anticoagulation

 

Pharmacy Technician Learning Objectives:

- Participants will be able to discuss what a patient's LDL and HDL cholesterol values mean

- Participants will be able to list medications used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus that also have cardiovascular benefit

 

Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile information will have their credit for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 14 days after the event and no later than 60 days after the event.  Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 50 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time.  The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account within 60 days.
